Seismic survey is done by blasting explosive in shollow shot holes drilled along the surveyed lines at a regular interval.

The elastic waves generated are reflected back from different sub-surface layers to the surface of the earth. These reflected waves are received by sensors called Geophones planted on the ground and converted into electrical energy. The electrical energy from different geophones is transmitted to the seismic, Recording instrument where they are recorded on magnetic tapes/ cartidges. The data recorded on the tapes/cartridges are processed at the computer centre.
